Celebrate That #WeKilledTheBill!

  • Week of July 30, 2017
There will be no more votes tonight.
— Mitch McConnell

Indeed there weren’t. The GOP tried until 2am on July 28th to resuscitate their “skinny Obamacare bill” but it ultimately flat-lined. That’s because, together with our allies in the resistance, we built a Wall-of-Us to guard the healthcare of millions of Americans. As Nate Silver explained in an article about why the bill failed,

"Perhaps more importantly, liberal activists flooded the phone lines of senators and showed up at town halls, making it clear to the Senate that they could face a backlash if they passed this legislation."

That’s right, liberal activists (he’s talking about all-of-us by the way) rallied to #killthebill. This win shows the impact of our collective and sustained action. To be sure, there will be other bills to fight against. But this week it’s time for all-of-us to take a victory lap.

Here’s how:

  1. Give yourself props (or chocolate) for being a part of this movement.
  2. Tweet thank yous to Senators Collins, Murkowski, and McCain for putting the health of Americans over party lines.
  3. Share this message on Facebook.
