action 1: Tell Your MoCs to Stand Up for Childhood Arrivals and Co-Sponsor the DREAM Act

  • Week of September 10, 2017

On Tuesday, Trump sent his goblin-y henchman Jeff Sessions to announce that he is rescinding DACA, the program established by Obama in 2012 that has allowed nearly 800,000 young immigrants the opportunity to get a temporary reprieve from deportation and a work permit.

The catch: Trump essentially passed the buck to Congress, giving them six months to potentially pass a bill that could protect DACA recipients, either by continuing to offer them temporary protection or granting them a path to legalization.

History tells us that Congress probably has the votes to make DACA law. Now we have to tell our Members of Congress to secure the futures of DACA recipients by supporting the DREAM Act.

Here’s how:

  1. Call your MoCs and tell them to support the DREAM Act. Use these tips and scripts provided by our friends at Indivisible.
  2. Review the DREAM Act Toolkit, a list of key lawmakers with swing votes needed to secure passage of the DREAM Act. If they are yours, use the tool to call and tweet at them.
