We’ve said it before--the best way to advocate for our values is to elect officials who share them. This week we are focusing on Manka Dhingra, a Democrat running for Washington State Senate (District 45). Here’s what Dhingra said about gun safety this week:
“It is unacceptable that we have 100 gun deaths every day in this country,” said Dhingra in a press release. “I am tired of hearing about mass shootings and school shootings on the news. There are reasonable and realistic steps we can take to make it harder for people to commit suicide with a gun, or perpetrate domestic violence, or go on one of the terrifying mass shootings that have become all too common.”
And you don’t just need to take her word for it. Dhingra is endorsed by the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility. As an added bonus, Dhingra, an Indian American, is also a strong advocate for immigrant rights, ensuring that the only wall that will get built is a Wall of Us!
Two weeks ago, we featured Kathy Tran, another woman and immigrant who is running for the Virginia House of Delegates. Like Dhingra, Tran is willing to fight for gun violence prevention. Read what she has to say here.
All-of-us must oppose gun violence by supporting super women candidates like Dhingra and Tran.
