action 4: Stop Trump from Selling Out Our Public Lands for Private Profit

  • Week of December 3, 2017
“Indigenous people have a relationship with the land that is sacred and central to our way of life. Our culture, spirituality, identity, survival, and understanding of life is centered in the Earth and the Cosmos. If the land is desecrated, so are we."
-- The Reverend Dr. Bradley Hauff, Missioner for Indigenous Ministries of The Episcopal Church

Tomorrow, Trump will head to Utah to make an announcement that if enacted would threaten some of our most sacred public lands. If these leaked maps are accurate, Trump will be repealing protections for more than two million acres of public lands in the American West, representing the single largest sell-out of public lands and waters in our nation’s history.

The push to shrink national monuments comes from the Trump administration’s greedy desire to open up federally protected land to oil, gas, and mining activities, an action that only seeks to benefit a few and goes against the overwhelming wishes of the public – 99% of the more than 2.8 million comments opposed changes.

This assault on America’s public lands and waters will have serious consequences for the region’s cultural, scientific and natural resources – and shows that no public lands or waters are safe from the misguided decisions of this Administration. All-of-Us must defend our land from Trump’s attacks and keep it protected for generations to come.

Here’s how:

  1. Tweet this message (or another personalized one): Abolishing public land & ocean protections puts America’s heritage at risk. RT to urge @realDonaldTrump: Keep #MonumentsForAll intact!
  2. Join or host a local action.
