Trump baited millions of voters with a “drain the swamp” promise and then switched to a cabinet that has little relevant experience but more wealth than one third of all Americans combined. Since Trump’s cabinet picks “look, swim, and quack” like swamp monsters, his transition team has assembled a communications “war room” to deflect criticism. This strategy includes media “sherpas” who aim to dupe the public (especially Trump voters) into believing that these billionaires will represent their interests.

The confirmation hearings are scheduled for mid-January, and the Democratic leadership is gearing up for battle too. In the words of K-2SO of Star Wars Rogue One, “There is a 97.6 percent chance of failure.” A Republican controlled Congress will confirm Trump’s picks. So why are we asking you to do this?! Because the inconsistency between Trump’s populist message and his actions matters Trump understands that, which is why he is doubling down on a media strategy.

All-of-us must help write the narrative that exposes the truth about Trump’s cabinet picks.

Here is how:

1.  Read this article, which provides a good overview of how the senate confirmation process works.

2.  Call your senators.

This week, we want to keep the pressure on Tillerson and Mnuchin. Click below for scripts which include questions your senators should be asking. You can address other cabinet picks on the same call. Next week we will serve up more scripts.

Rex Tillerson, Secretary of State, ExxonMobile CEO. He will be reviewed by Senate Foreign Relations Committee first.
Steven Mnuchin, Treasury Secretary, "The Foreclosure King". He will be reviewed by the Senate Finance Committee first.
