Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Junior

  • Week of January 14, 2018
Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice will soon pass away and the deep fog of misunderstanding will be lifted from our fear drenched communities, and in some not too distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty.

This past year the events in Charlottesville, the Take-a-Knee protests, and the Muslim ban were just a few of the painful reminders of how deep the racial divisions in the U.S. still run. Despite Trump’s repeated attempts to capitalize on and fuel this hate, we’ve also been reminded of our solidarity. From the strong contingent of immigration lawyers who showed up at airports to support people after the travel ban, to the unprecedented win led by black voters in Alabama, we have seen that when we support each other and lead with love, we win.

This Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend let’s honor his great legacy by engaging in service and recommitting ourselves to peace, love and solidarity. All-of-us must keep his dream alive.

Here’s how:

1 Read Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s letter from a Birmingham Jail

Donate to the NAACP so that we can continue to see more wins like we did in Alabama

3 Attend a Day of Service event near you
