Form a Local Resistance Group

  • Week of January 1, 2017

Two weeks ago we asked you to read "A Practical Guide to Resisting the Trump Agenda" and begin to think about assembling a local resistance group. This week, all-of-us must take the first step in assembling our groups.

Here’s how:

1. Skim pages 13-15 of the guide.

2. Decide how large you want this group to be. Many of the Tea Party groups were small (10 or so) but they were local. As the guide states, “The most important thing is that this is a LOCAL group. Your band of heroes is focused on applying local pressure, which means you all need to be local.” Find your congressional district here.

3. Schedule a first meeting or call with your group to take place in January (after January 8th). In our January 8th newsletter, we will send you a sample agenda and a tool-kit for your first meeting. Spoiler alert: It will involve a locally-focused strategy so read this, “Rocking the Town Halls - Best Practices” (a resource created by the Tea Party to combat “the socialist agenda of the Democrat leadership”).

4. Ask your group to save the date on January 15th. Bernie Sanders is leading an effort to have nationwide rallies in support of health care. More on that next week.
