Think New York is a dark blue state? Think again.
Even though voters elected 32 Democrats to the New York State Senate in 2016, narrowly edging out 31 Republicans, the NY State Senate is effectively controlled by the GOP. This is because a rogue faction of eight Democrats who call themselves the “Independent Democratic Conference” broke with mainline Democrats in 2011 and regularly cast their votes with Republicans -- and against the interests of the Democratic voters who put them in office.
But true blue Democrat Shelley Mayer is running for New York’s 37th State Senate District in a special election on April 24. If Shelley wins on April 24 (and Democrat Luis Sepulveda wins another special election in a safe blue district), the IDC has promised to reunify with the Democrats, which would give Dems control of the Senate and the entire New York State government.
All-of-us must help flip the Empire State blue!
Support Shelley Mayer.
