Protect Mueller to Protect Our Democracy

  • Week of April 8, 2018

There is still a growing sense that Trump may soon fire Mueller, and still no action from Congress to prevent this potential constitutional crisis. Two things are happening simultaneously that are making us all nervous: 1) Mueller is clearly honing in on the president himself and on the charge of collision/conspiracy with Russia, and 2) Trump’s legal defense is crumbling.

There are now two bipartisan bills before Congress that would offer some protection and/or judicial recourse if Trump fires Mueller. Yet Congressional leadership is refusing to bring this bill to the floor. Come November, they’ll pay a political price for their negligence and their complicity. Meanwhile, it’s up to all-of-us to make them ante up now to protect Mueller’s investigation, and our democracy.

Here’s how:

1 Call your Representative, especially if you have a Republican MoC, and use this script.

Trump has been increasingly attacking Special Counsel Robert Mueller. I am deeply concerned about a constitutional crisis that will result if he tries to fire the special counsel. The Special Counsel Integrity Act was introduced to prevent such a constitutional crisis. I am calling to urge Representative [______________] to vote for that act. The future of our democracy depends on it.

2 Sign this petition to condemn any interference in the Russia investigation.

3 Sign up for a potential emergency "Nobody is Above the Law" rally, in the (super scary) event that Mueller is fired.
