Tell Your Senators to Block Any Supreme Court Nomination Until After Midterms

  • Week of July 1, 2018

With Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy retiring earlier this week, Donald Trump is positioned to shift the court to the right for a generation to come.

Not so fast. Not under our watch.

Two years ago, Senators Chuck Grassley, now-chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and the Republican Senate stole a Supreme Court seat by blocking Merrick Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court. Two years ago, we didn’t have a President that was under investigation for obstruction of justice and collusion with a foreign government.

Following the McConnell Rule and common sense, the Senate shouldn't confirm a successor for Kennedy until the new Senate is in place, AND Trump is cleared of all charges.

In the words of Daily Kos, “Kennedy, a Republican, often served a critical swing vote on issues such as abortion and affirmative action. We cannot allow another of Trump's extremist nominees to wildly undo decades of civil rights, one majority opinion at a time.”

All-of-us must protect our highest Court, and prevent a real-life Gilead.

Here’s how:

1 Call, sign, and send the message to your MoCs: Follow the McConnell Rule. No Supreme Court confirmations until Trump has cleared his name and a new Senate is in place.
