action 3: Appreciate the Power of Anger and Stand with Maxine Waters

  • Week of July 8, 2018

“I’m a strong black woman, and I cannot be intimidated...” --  Congresswoman Maxine Waters

Last week at a rally protesting the immoral and unAmerican separation of children from their families, Maxine Waters said this:

“..we will throw it to Mr. President, we are not going to swallow it, we are not going to swallow it. You have disrespected all of us. You have violated all of us. And now you have sacrificed our children for your aims and your goals just because you want to build a wall. Mr. President there will be no wall built on the backs of these children.”

Amen. All-of-us agree that the only wall Trump is getting is a Wall-of-Us! Was Maxine Waters angry when she said this? Yes. Shouldn’t all-of-us be angry that Trump is separating parents and holding children hostage for his wall?

Speaking about Trump’s family separation policies, Congresswoman Waters continued, "If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you cause a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome – anymore, anywhere – we’ve got to get the children connected to their parents, the children are suffering."

Maxine Waters’ words were then misconstrued and she was attacked, not only by Trump, but by leaders of her own party, including Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

Listen up Democrats, even scripture tells us that there is “A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak.” Ecclesiastes 3:7. When families are torn apart, it’s time to speak. And, when elected officials take on Trump and his administration (including members of his cabinet) for separating families and children all-of-us must lift these courageous voices up, not take them down!
