Lucy McBath Wins the House in GA 6

  • Week of November 11, 2018

Lucy McBath, the gun control and racial justice activist whose son was killed in a 2012 shooting, is now headed to Congress for Georgia District 6, an affluent, suburban Atlanta district that Republicans have controlled for nearly 40 years.

Ms. McBath defeated the Republican incumbent Karen Handel, who only last year handily won a closely watched special election in GA 6. In these fast-moving times, a year ago may seem like ancient history, but dig deep and you’ll remember - the Jon Ossoff election, the one that we threw our hearts and souls into, the one that gutted us when we lost.

But as it turns out, we didn’t lose. The work we did there (and across the country) paved the way for McBath’s victory this week! So keep on keeping on, and we will continue to reap the seeds we sow.
