All-of-us are knackered by our very own constitutional crisis in the US, but our mates in the UK have been dealing with their own gobby wankers. Tomorrow is a crucial election in the UK, an election which could determine its future, and if / how / when it will break off from the European Union.
For a little history: UK voters gobsmacked the world in 2016 when they voted to leave the EU. Blimey! The Brexit vote (most likely helped along by some good ol' fashioned election interference by Russia) split the nation and paralyzed Parliament. After becoming Prime Minister this summer, the Conservative Boris Johnson (numpty!) tried and failed to pass his Brexit withdrawal agreement. So he called this snap election to try to win a majority in Parliament to get his Brexit deal through. If he can win Parliamentary approval, Johnson hopes to take the UK out of the EU by the end of January.
Johnson's (rubbish) Conservative Party is leading by about 10 percentage points in polls, which is pure tosh. And word on the street is that liberals there are already planning post election coping strategies, which may include many pints of beer (cheers but don’t chunder!). Progressive UK friends, we think you’re ace, we know what it feels like to have the collywobbles, and we’re here for you.
This week all-of-us must reach out to and/or send positive vibes to our friends on the other side of the Atlantic to support them through this bloody mess.
