“I could not allow my nieces, I could not allow the little girls that I go home to, I could not allow victims of verbal abuse and, worse, to see that — to see that excuse and to see our Congress accepted as legitimate and accept it as an apology and to accept silence as a form of acceptance, I could not allow that to stand."
In case you missed it, last week Congressman Ted Yoho verbally assaulted Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. I cannot restate the words he used, as I am only 12, but let’s just say it was unacceptable. And, to top it off, he said it in public! And in front of a ton of reporters! If he had said these words to any woman, it would be outrageous, but he used them to describe a Congresswoman!
After hearing this abuse towards her, and because she’s a huge inspiration for me, I decided to watch her speech. All-of-us MUST watch it! I also watched Ted Yoho’s “apology”, and none of us should have to watch that… Thankfully, Ted Yoho is not running for another term - see ya later alligator! But to honor AOC’s courage, all-of-us must fight to turn his red district blue!
