Ensure That Mark Kelly Casts the Deciding Vote Rejecting Trump’s Supreme Court Nomination

  • Week of September 21, 2020

We are beginning our righteous fight this week with Captain Mark Kelly. Here’s why.

Captain Kelly is running to unseat Republican Martha McSally, who was appointed to John McCain’s Senate seat when he passed away. That means the Arizona Senate race this year is a special election … and it just got extra super special. If Kelly takes the seat, under Arizona law he won’t need to wait until January to step into the role - he could be sworn in as early as November 30! But why are we getting all excited about a few weeks’ difference?

Hours after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, McSally tweeted this:

Very lame--and, speaking of lame, it’s looking like Mitch may have to wait until the lame duck session to vote on Trump’s nominee! That’s because Collins and Murkowski have already said they won’t vote now, and Collins has gone further to say that the presidential candidate who prevails on November 3rd should choose the Supreme Court nominee. Are you following where this is headed? If Mark Kelly wins and gets sworn in by November 30th, while we will still need three additional Republicans to defect, Kelly could cast the deciding vote to realize Justice Ginsburg’s dying wish. The GOP knows what’s at stake, which is why they’re throwing all kinds of money into this race. All-of-us must double down Captain Mark Kelly.
